Dr. Ana Mickovic is an Assistant Professor of Management Accounting at the University of Amsterdam, Faculty of Economics and Business. She joined the university in 2019 after completing her PhD at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Ana holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Zagreb and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb.
Her research focuses on the application of artificial intelligence in accounting, particularly in fraud detection and company performance forecasting. She explores how unstructured data, such as social media posts, can be used to predict financial and non-financial outcomes. Ana has also conducted extensive research on text analysis for detecting accounting fraud and identifying greenwashing behavior.
Before her academic career, Ana gained professional experience at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Croatia, the Croatian National Bank, and University College for Law and Finance. Her work has been published in journals such as the International Journal of Accounting Information Systems and the Journal of Cleaner Production.
