Steven Maijoor has been Director of Supervision of the De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) since April 1, 2021. As of February 1, 2024, he also serves as Chair of Supervision. Steven is responsible for Banking Supervision, Supervision Policy, and Legal Affairs. In addition, he is a member of the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank.

Before joining the Executive Board of DNB, Steven was Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) (2011–2021). From 2004 to 2011, he was a Director at the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). Prior to that, he was affiliated with the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University as Professor of Business Economics (1994–2004) and as Dean (2001–2004).

Steven studied Business Economics at the University of Groningen. In 1991, he earned his PhD in the same field at Maastricht University.
