Tom Groot is Professor of Management Accounting at the School of Business and Economics of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is head of the Department of Accounting and director of the Amsterdam Research Center in Accounting (ARCA). His research focuses on management accounting, performance measurement, management control, and financial management of nonprofit organizations. He teaches courses in accounting and control at both bachelor’s and master’s levels and has published extensively on topics such as cost systems, interorganizational control, and health care finance. In addition to his academic roles, he serves on several curatorium boards and contributes to professional programs in compliance, integrity, and management accounting
