Sally K. Widener is Trevillian Distinguished Professor Emerita at Clemson University and Visiting Professor of Management Accounting & Control at Nyenrode Business University. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder, a Master’s in Accounting from Colorado State University, and a BBA in Accounting from the University of Houston. Before her academic career, she worked as an auditor at Price Waterhouse and in controllership and internal audit roles at a Fortune 500 company.
Her research focuses on the design of management control systems and their behavioral effects on employees. She has published widely in leading journals such as Accounting, Organizations and Society and Management Accounting Research. Sally has also received awards for her work on lean accounting and management control frameworks.
