Prof. Stephen Kwaku Asare
Professor
Prof. Stephen Kwaku Asare is the KPMG Professor of Accounting at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business and a Research Professor at Nyenrode Business Universiteit in the Netherlands. He teaches courses in forensic accounting, financial reporting, attestation, managerial accounting, corporate governance, and controls. His research focuses on improving audit decision-making, detecting white-collar crime, and governance issues in emerging democracies.
Prof. Asare holds a PhD in Accounting from the University of Arizona, a JD (Cum Laude) from the University of Florida, an MBA from Baylor University, and a BSc in Accounting (First Class Honors) from the University of Ghana. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of the Florida Bar. His work has been widely published in accounting, psychology, and law journals, and he serves as Editor of the Journal of Accounting Literature. He has received research funding from organizations such as the AICPA, IAASB, and KPMG Research Foundation.
Prof. Asare has taught at leading institutions worldwide, including Boston College, Norwegian School of Economics, Aarhus School of Business, University of International Business and Economics (China), and GIMPA (Ghana). He has also contributed to executive education programs for PwC and received numerous teaching awards for excellence and innovation.
