We cordially invite you to join us for the 3rd International Conference of the Foundation for Auditing Research on Tuesday 5 June and Wednesday 6 June 2018. The theme of this year’s conference is “Moving the Audit Profession Forward – New Research and Best Practices”.

The Foundation FAR offers the unique opportunity to bring about cooperation between researchers and audit firms for exchange in the search for the drivers of audit quality and the root causes of audit quality failures. The conference is focused on sharing findings from FAR Research Projects as well as introducing new projects, disseminating existing knowledge on relevant questions from auditing practice, and discussing views from practice, standard setters and regulators.

Speakers We are glad to announce Preeti Choudhary (University of Arizona) as keynote speaker on “Auditor-Auditee Interactions and Audit Quality” and Janine van Diggelen (recently resigned IFIAR Chair) sharing her views on “Current Global Trends in Audit Quality, Supervision, and Standards Setting”. We are also happy to confirm Steve Salterio’s (Queen’s University) discussion and Q&A on “Moving Beyond the Lab – Bridging the Gap between Academics and Practice”. Anneke van Zanen (Chair of the Board of Baker Tilly Berk NL), Marco van der Vegte (Dutch Professional Body of Accountants, Partner Deloitte), Monique van Dijken-Eeuwijk (NautaDutilh), and Marleen Willekens (KU Leuven) will participate in a panel discussion. This year’s conference will be chaired by Willem Buijink, professor of accounting (Open Universiteit and Universiteit Tilburg (emeritus)) and board member of the FAR.

We are furthermore happy to be able to announce the following presentations by FAR Research Groups on (intermediate) research findings or new research projects (including existing scientific evidence) on the following topics:
