2 October 2024

English Nederlands
Sustainability and accounting - CARE Conference

At September 25 - 26 we could participate in the 2024 CARE Conference, Accountability in a Sustainable World, held in collaboration with Sustainable Investment Forum North America 2024.

 The conference featured an incredible line up of practitioners and academics in accounting, auditing and governance who are working on the mission to mobilize sustainable investment towards a 1.5°C world. The conference focuses on offering solutions that enable organizations to act in accordance with the spirit of the Paris. It so appears that accounting and reporting is indispensable to make the 1.5°C world possible.

 Almost any discussion included a section on auditing, these sessions had auditing as its main topic:

 Developing, implementing and regulating a sustainability assurance process, a panel led by Robert Knechel;

The Role of Auditing and Assurance, a presentation by Anthony Scilipoti, President & CEO, Veritas Investment Research;

How existing accounting standards should affect the way that climate risk is considered, a presentation delivered by Sue Harding, Consultant, Climate Accounting and Audit Project.

All other talks and panels featured at the conference are of relevant to auditing too, such as: ESG ratings: A compass without direction.
