An audit firm can be considered a high reliability organization, just like a hospital, an airline or a nuclear power plant. If an auditor makes a wrong judgment then it can have very serious negative consequences, even if it is about money rather than directly about human lives. If we consider an audit firm to be a high reliability organization, then that is a good way to look at how things can be improved, especially in the area of learning. Tjibbe Bosman spoke with Professor Bart Dierynck about this interesting perspective.

Bart Dierynck is Professor of Management Accounting at Tilburg University, where he has been employed since 2012. He holds a doctoral degree from KU Leuven. Together with Kathryn Kadous, Dierynck is the supervisor of Christian Peters in the PhD project funded by FAR. The topic of the PhD project is 'Learning in Audit Firms'.
